Rockhampton R1 – Finsceal
Beaten favourite two back when chasing home Strathcona, who’s now won three straight. No speed in this, so he should roll forward and dictate terms. Racing consistently and finds a winnable race—from astute yard, looks ready to win again.
Rockhampton R2 – Just Super
🔒Best Bet
Clear class edge here. Has form around the likes of Hellish, Cherry Rose and Hell, and now drops sharply in grade to a benchmark race. Closed in 33.7s last start off a hot tempo—gets a far easier setup here and should finish right over the top. Looks the winner.
Rockhampton R6 – Rylov
Brings solid Victorian and south-east QLD form to this. Ran 4th at Eagle Farm behind the smart Ouroboros, who’s since trounced them in Saturday grade, then beaten only a length at Toowoomba. Form around him stacks up well, and with a key jockey booked, he’ll take beating.
Ballarat R2 – Controlled Zone
Three consecutive placings and knocking on the door. Ran good sectionals three back at Sandown (4th fastest last 600m of the meet). Has the form on the board and consistency—this looks his day to break through with even luck in running.
Ballarat R7 – Mrs Secombe
Exploded late to break maiden last start, clocking the fastest L600m of the meet and stormed through the line. Makes the leap to 64 grade, but she’s clearly on an upward trajectory and looks the most progressive runner in the race. One to keep following.
Taree R2 – Golden Smile
🔒Best Bet
Lightly raced import who ran a big race first-up at Newcastle, flashing home to run the 9th fastest L200m of the meet. Previously placed at a mile overseas, rise in distance is ideal. Gets in well here second-up—hard to beat and will be winning better races than a Taree maiden going forward.
Taree R6 – Miss Maserati
Dominant win two back, surging clear by nearly 3L while clocking the fastest closing splits of the day. Had excuses last start but now drops back to a BM58 and gets in well with a 3kg claim. Draws ideally and looks well-placed to bounce back.
