Morphettville Racing Tips – Saturday, September 6 2025

Race 5 – Stephen “China” Rendell Handicap (1250 METRES)

3 Layeruponlayer ($6.00)

Genuine, in-form sprinter-miler who thrives at this course. Maps perfect from barrier 1 to box-seat behind a solid speed and owns recent benchmark figures in stronger Melbourne/Sydney company. Handles soft or good and the 1250m hits his sweet spot third run in. Main winning chance.

4 Zanthron ($14.00)

On-pace warrior who gives you a sight. Huge 3kg claim gets him to 55.5 and he draws to control the rail. The 1250m is as far as he wants, but if he pinches cheap sectionals mid-race he can hang on for a slice. Each-way/exotics.

6 Electric Tommy ($4.20)

Progressive type with two dominant provincial wins this prep and a narrow Caulfield miss in stronger grade. Maps handy from gate 2 and handles soft. Small query back to 1250 against older on-speeders, but his turn of foot is real. Big chance.

Race 7 – Sportsbet Fast Form Handicap (1400 METRES)

2 Cartoon Graveyard ($6.50)

Tasmanian class-dropper with a massive 8kg claim (to 51.5). Trialled up well and was sound fresh last start. Draw 6 lets him stalk the speed and blend into the race before the corner. With that weight he can sustain a long run. Winning hope.

5 Morris Minor ($7.50)

Local who’s flying this prep and proven at Morphettville. Draw 5 gives him every favour to sit midfield with cover and launch. Up to 1400 is the query on paper, but his recent 1100 win had depth and the claim helps. Live chance at odds.

6 Podargoni ($12.00)

Lightly raced improver building a sharp record at 1200–1400. Comes off a soft Morphettville Parks 1400 win and holds a map to park just off the leaders. Tougher here but he’s trending the right way. Include.

Race 8 – Tony McEvoy Hall Of Fame Handicap (1250 METRES)

3 Stokomo ($10.00)

Honest and versatile. Recent 1400m form stacks up and he handles cut in the ground. From gate 5 he can be first four in running and pinch the race if the leaders overdo it. Each-way value.

6 Charm Catcher ($4.40)

Lightly raced mare with upside. Fresh CL1 win was soft and she tumbles in at 53 after the 2kg claim. Draw 6 maps beautifully to track the right back and present at the 300. Profiles as the one with the best spike potential. Top pick.

10 Mahsay ($9.50)

New yard, soft trials, and a strong second-up profile. Rails draw (1) guarantees the economical run; needs gaps late but her 1300–1400 figures are good for this. Knockout hope if the breaks come.
